Sinopsis
Cuatro astronautas se convierten en superhéroes tras ser contaminados en el espacio exterior. Todo comienza cuando el sueño largamente acariciado del inventor, astronauta y científico Dr. Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) está muy próximo a hacerse realidad. Reed quiere ir en un viaje al espacio exterior, al centro de una tormenta cósmica. Allí, espera conseguir desvelar los secretos de los códigos genéticos de los seres humanos en beneficio de la humanidad. La tripulación de Reed para la misión está formada por su mejor amigo, el astronauta Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis); por Sue Storm (Jessica Alba), directora de investigación genética y antigua novia de Reed; y por el impulsivo hermano menor de Sue, el piloto Johnny Storm (Chris Evans). En compañía del benefactor del proyecto, el ambicioso Von Doom (Julian McMahon), los cuatro parten para la exploración de sus vidas. La misión discurre sin incidentes hasta que Reed descubre que hay un error de cálculo en la velocidad con la que se acerca la tormenta. En unos minutos, el umbral de este fenómeno atmosférico está sobre ellos. La estación espacial se ve engullida por turbulentas nubes de radiación cósmica que cambian el genoma de la tripulación. Su ADN se ve irrevocablemente alterado.... y ése va a ser su futuro. De regreso a la Tierra, los efectos de la exposición muestran rápidamente sus primeros síntomas brindando a cada uno de ellos poderes sobrenaturales, convirtiéndose en Los Cuatro Fantásticos: Míster Fantástico, La Chica Invisible, La Antorcha Humana y La Cosa.
