En la escarpada Isla Mema, donde vikingos y dragones han mantenido una amarga enemistad durante generaciones, Hipo es un muchacho diferente a los demás. El ingenioso y subestimado hijo del jefe Estoico el Inmenso desafía siglos de tradición haciéndose amigo de Desdentao, un temido dragón Furia Nocturna. Su insospechado vínculo desvelará la verdadera naturaleza de los dragones, poniendo a prueba los cimientos de la sociedad vikinga. En compañía de la feroz y ambiciosa Astrid y Bocón, el estrafalario herrero del pueblo, Hipo planta cara a un mundo dividido por el miedo y la incomprensión. Pero cuando surge una ancestral amenaza que pone en peligro tanto a vikingos como a dragones, la amistad de Hipo con Desdentao se convertirá en la clave para forjar un nuevo futuro. Juntos, deberán recorrer la delicada senda hacia la paz, volando más allá de los límites de sus mundos y redefiniendo para siempre el significado de ser un héroe y un líder.
